About Us

 Why Worry Fishing Charters

We were formerly dairy farmers in the Waikato for over 25 years, until injury forced us to make a dramatic change in our lives. What to do was the big question. Both of us have a passion for fishing, motor bike riding (on and off road), the Coromandel/BOPand people, so the logical thing to do was to put all these things together into one package. That's how "why worry" came to be.

Charter fishing seemed a good idea, thought I would make a whole lot of new friends doing something I have great passion about. The hours especially in the summer are longer than i was a dairy farmer but it's a good lifestyle and its loads of fun taking a good bunch of people out fishing. But the pressure is on you to find them fish and some of the time especially in winter that can be hard work.

he biggest buzz is taking people new to fishing and kids, watching and helping them catch fish is great i love it. Other sports of interest are motorbike riding, dirt, road, it's awesome fun, any kind of racquet sports are a bit of me. We are both easy going, fun loving kiwis. Jennifer does speak Dutch as well. Both Mark and Jennifer are trained first aiders so in the event of any accidents or illness we will be able to offer assistance and get any help you may require.

Why Worry?

 Why Worry Fishing Charters

Why Worry is a 650 Senator pontoon boat built in Napier she has been designed to withstand heavy sea conditions and gives a very comfortable ride.

She has 16 sealed compartments and for safety and stability and is built to survey which means she conforms to all of maritime New Zealand's strict design and build standards.

She has all the safety requirements and safety gear necessary to conform to NZ Maritime Law.

She is powered by a single 150hp 4 stoke Johnson outboard and has a range of approx 200 nautical miles.

She is surveyed to take 6 passengers and 2 crew. She is under Safe Ship Management which means that we are constantly audited and checked to make sure we are applying strict safety procedures and that the boat and skipper is up to the task of ferrying passengers out to sea and home safely.

The Skipper Mark Archer has a Maritime NZ skippers licence which means customers can rest assure that they are in safe qualified hands, he also holds a current first aid license and can assist any person who has any medical needs.

Mark is also a volunteer member of the Waihi Coastguards. Whilst we take fishing seriously, our main aim is for everybody on board to have a safe enjoyable day and go home with some fish for the table. Regardless of your experience, we'll do our best to ensure you have an excellent day out.
